How to get in Croatia

The most common types of transportation to Croatia are car, bus, plane and train.

If you are arriving from some of the nearby countries, like Slovenia, Germany or Austria, then the most used means of transport is a car. According to the opinions of visitors and locals, roads in Croatia are good. Especially featured are highways A1 and A6, connecting the capital of Croatia, Zagreb, to Rijeka and Ploče. You need to pay the toll for using the highway in Croatia, but in return, you get the comfort that includes many resting places, exceptional road and speed limit of 130 kilometres per hour.

On the other side, roads in some small tourist places tend to be narrow and lacking parking places. That's why it is important to check with your hotel owner whether parking is guaranteed and whether it is free of charge.

If you prefer not to travel in your own car, then the bus is an alternative. All Croatian tourist destinations are well connected to each other. During the summer season, the number of lines is much more increased. For example, there are around 30 bus lines connecting Split and Dubrovnik on a daily basis. You can book your bus ticket online, or buy at the bus station, whichever you prefer. Advantage of booking online is guaranteed seat.

Train transportation is not as popular as the bus, mostly due to lack of train lines and necessary infrastructure. The most famous train line is Split - Zagreb, which drives four times a day during the summer season.

There are nine airports in Croatia. Places which feature airports are Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik, Rijeka, Bol, Zadar, Lošinj, Osijek, and Pula. If you are arriving from countries which are far away from Croatia, then the plane is a good option.
From 2018. South Korea has introduced a direct flight line to Zagreb airport three times a week.
